I ❤ LA | Part 1

What an amazing week this was. I was invited to go to a business retreat to LA for 3.5 days. It was a trip of work and pleasure; an all expense paid package that included a pass to Universal Studios. I appreciated this gesture greatly because: 1. I've never been to LA (except when a baby) 2. This experience was life changing - which I'll elaborate further in Part 2.
We were picked up by a shuttle from the airport and taken to Sheraton Universal. This would continue to serve as our primary transport to the other activities we had planned. In the vicinity Universal Studios and the Hilton Hotel was only a few minutes away. The exterior of the Sheraton wasn't all that spectacular. The lobby was quite nice however.
When we arrived at 10:25am, the rooms weren't ready for check-in. So we hung out in the lobby. After 20 minutes, we were escorted to a conference room for brunch before heading to our rooms to unpack.

I was looking forward to eggs, but we had cold sandwiches instead. The whole group of 30 people sat down at three circular tables. We introduced mingled for a little while as we ate. Everyone thought I was a 17 year old kid due to my appearance. But I always take it as a compliment. I met a lot of people from different parts of the country. Apparently, I was in one of the two organizations representing New York.
Afterwards we went to our rooms to unpack and claim beds.
We went downstairs to a conference room where meetings ensued until a little after 2pm. We were given an itinerary and tonight we were going to SUR Restaurant of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules docuseries fame. I've never heard of the restaurant, nor the series. I'm not much of a TV person, so I didn't know what to expect. But before we to the restaurant we had a few hours to spare. We used this time to visit someone who has recently passed. I explored the hotel as we were making our way downstairs to the Uber.

This was definitely one of the more emotional parts of my trip.
I don't have many photos of SUR but it was really purply. We booked the Kimono room and our hostess was Billie Lee. Overall the service was awful, but the food was good. We had one waiter serve all 30 of us. ALL of us! I was one of the first people in the room and was lucky enough to secure a spot on this plush couch. It made the whole waiting experience better.
After a few drinks, we arrived back to our hotel with my especially tipsy co-worker. It was a great day. I met so many awesome people and it was really a crowd I could vibe with.
